We work with a small group of local partners on research, translation and community access. None of these relationships involve editorial payment.
Local communities
In sensitive villages and neighborhoods we work with resident associations to make sure our coverage is welcome, and to help set boundaries around what we publish and what we hold back.
Tourism organizations
Regional and municipal tourism offices help us verify practical information such as transport schedules, seasonal hours and safety notes. They do not influence which places we cover.
Independent photographers
A network of documentary photographers contributes original imagery to our articles. Rights and credit remain with the photographer in every case.
Cultural institutions
Regional museums, archives and libraries help us with historical context. When we quote or draw on their material, we credit them directly in the article.
