1. Scope and purpose
This Refund and Cancellation Policy applies to any paid product or service offered by GTRYP LLC through gtryp.com, including but not limited to reader-supported memberships, paid newsletter tiers, the printed annual field-notes booklet, back-issue archive access, event tickets, and any other paid offering we may introduce from time to time. This Policy is intended to be read together with our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
The purpose of this Policy is to explain, clearly and in one place, when a refund or cancellation is available, how to request one, what timelines apply, and what statutory rights are unaffected by the Policy.
2. Free content
Access to editorial articles on gtryp.com is free, and no payment is taken for that access. As a result, no refund arises in respect of free content. If you have set up a free account for any future feature and wish to close it, please write to editors@gtryp.com and we will close the account and delete any personal information we hold, subject to any legal retention obligations.
3. Free newsletter
The free GTRYP newsletter is provided at no cost. You may cancel your free newsletter subscription at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the foot of every issue, or by writing to editors@gtryp.com. Because no payment is taken, no refund applies.
4. Paid membership and subscription tiers
GTRYP may from time to time offer paid membership or subscription tiers that unlock additional benefits, such as an extended archive, printed materials or member-only events. These tiers are billed either monthly or annually, at your choice at the time of subscription. Each renewal occurs automatically at the end of the billing period unless you have cancelled beforehand.
You may cancel a paid tier at any time from your account page or by writing to editors@gtryp.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and access to the paid benefits will continue until the end of that period. We do not issue partial refunds for unused portions of a billing period, except as described in the paragraphs below and except where required by applicable consumer protection law.
If you cancel a new paid subscription within fourteen days of first payment and have not substantially accessed the paid benefits during that period, you may request a full refund of the amount paid by writing to editors@gtryp.com. "Substantially accessed" means, for the avoidance of doubt, downloading the archive in bulk, redeeming a physical benefit, or attending a member event.
If we terminate your paid subscription for a reason other than a material breach of our Terms of Use, we will refund the portion of the current billing period that follows the termination, prorated to the day.
5. Printed publications
Where GTRYP sells printed publications, such as the annual field-notes booklet, orders may be cancelled and refunded in full at any time before the order has shipped. Once an order has shipped, you may return it in unused and undamaged condition within fourteen days of delivery for a refund of the purchase price. Return shipping is at the reader's expense unless the item was damaged in transit, was defective, or was shipped in error, in which case GTRYP will refund reasonable return shipping.
Refunds for returned printed items are issued once we have received the returned goods and verified their condition. This typically takes five to ten working days from receipt.
For customers in the European Union, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the fourteen-day withdrawal right applies from the day on which you receive the last item in the order. Please include a completed withdrawal form or a clear written statement of your intention to withdraw when you return the item.
6. Event tickets
If GTRYP sells tickets to reader events, editorial talks or workshops, refunds are available on the following schedule: full refund up to fourteen days before the event; fifty percent refund between fourteen and seven days before the event; no refund within seven days of the event, except where the event is cancelled or materially changed by us. If we cancel or materially change an event, we will refund the full ticket price and, where reasonably possible, cover any documented non-recoverable travel expenses up to a limit specified on the event page.
You may transfer a ticket to another person free of charge at any time before the event by writing to editors@gtryp.com with the name of the new attendee.
7. Failed payments
If a scheduled subscription payment fails, we will retry the payment up to three times within seven days and will notify you by email. If the payment cannot be collected, your paid access will be paused until payment is made. Content accessed before the failed payment is not affected.
8. Statutory rights
Nothing in this Policy is intended to affect any statutory rights that you may have as a consumer under the laws of your jurisdiction, including, for readers in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the right of withdrawal from distance contracts for digital content and physical goods. Where a mandatory legal right conflicts with any provision of this Policy, the mandatory legal right prevails.
9. Chargebacks
Please contact us at editors@gtryp.com before initiating a chargeback through your bank or card issuer. In most cases we can resolve refund issues faster and more completely than the chargeback process. If a chargeback is initiated without prior contact and is later found to be unwarranted, we reserve the right to suspend the associated account until the matter is resolved.
10. How to request a refund
To request a refund or to cancel a paid product, please write to editors@gtryp.com with your order number, the email address associated with your subscription, and a brief description of your request. Refunds are processed to the original method of payment within ten working days of approval. Depending on your card issuer, the refunded amount may take a further two to five working days to appear on your statement.
11. Currency, taxes and payment processors
All prices on the Services are displayed in United States dollars unless otherwise indicated, and payment is charged in that currency. Applicable sales taxes, VAT or GST, where required, will be added at checkout and will be included in any refund. Payments are processed by our third party payment processors; those processors handle your card details in accordance with their own privacy notices and PCI-DSS obligations, and GTRYP does not store full card numbers on our own systems.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Changes will apply only to purchases made after the effective date of the updated Policy; existing subscribers will continue to enjoy the terms that were in force at the time of their most recent renewal, until the next renewal date.
